Aviation Legislation (General)
This course provides a structured introduction to the Aviation Legislation (AVLEG) framework, giving engineers and support staff the knowledge they need to understand how regulations shape daily maintenance and continuing airworthiness activities. It is designed to bridge the gap between complex legal text and real engineering practice, showing how international and European rules flow down to individual organisations and engineers.
The course begins by introducing the international aviation system, including ICAO, EASA, and national authorities, and explains how regulations are developed, implemented, and enforced. Participants will gain a clear understanding of where requirements come from and how global standards ensure safety and consistency across the industry.
From there, the training moves into the structure of European regulations, particularly the Basic Regulation and Implementing Rules such as Part 21, Part M, Part CAMO, and Part 145. The course explains how these pieces fit together, what they mean for different types of organisations, and why engineers need to be aware of them.
The course also highlights the roles and responsibilities of engineers, managers, and organisations under the regulations. This includes certification privileges, competence requirements, safety management, and reporting obligations. Practical examples are used to make these responsibilities clear and relevant to the work environment.
By the end, participants will have a solid overview of the aviation legislative framework. They will understand how international, regional, and organisational rules interact, and how this knowledge supports safe, compliant, and efficient maintenance operations. The course equips engineers with both awareness and confidence when dealing with audits, regulators, and day-to-day compliance tasks.
